Mer om sydafrikanska visum och immigration

Agenten Dirk Meissner på IBN Business & Immigration Solutions, som erbjuder liknande typ av tjänster som vår agent Tania Copeland vi berättat om tidigare, har skickat oss information angående de förändringar som håller på att införas beträffande visum och immigration till Sydafrika.

Vi nås av många olika besked från olika håll just nu. Förvirringen verkar vara stor, inte minst hos de anställda på Home Affairs både på de olika kontoren i Kapstadsregionen och ute på flygplatsen. Vi har flera exempel på att personer i samma situation mötts av olika besked, bötesbelopp och behandling ute på flygplatsen.

Här kommer delar av Dirks inlägg i debatten, som beträffande bötesbeloppen och var de ska betalas skiljer sig lite från tidigare besked, men i andra delar stämmer med det vi publicerat hittills:

Currently the penalties at the airport are called “administrative fines” and are R1.000 for up to 30 days overstay of permit, R1.500 for 30 days to 3 month and R3.000 for more than 3 month.

So currently the above penalties are levied, the concerned person must pay the fine in the SA mission at the respective home country. But of course one could try to argues with the officials there. Once the fine is paid, there should be no more problems.

Everything will change, as soon as the proposed new regulations come into place. Home Affairs believes that too many people overstay their permits and has taken a strong stand on it. I think the intention here is more to discipline our neighbours from Mosambique, Zimbabwe, etc but some Europeans are also not taking the law seriously.

Therefore the fines have been replaced with declaring those people undesirable for 2 years, if they overstay up to 30 days, 3 years for 60 to 90 days and 10 years for over 90 days!

So this must now be taken seriously. We do not know yet, how strictly this will be handled. I am confident we can argue, that if the problem was caused by slow processing of HA and at no fault of the applicant, he/she will not be declared undesirable.
